COMPOSTERS: Composter units are not considerd acceptable for the following reasons: 1) lack of available controls regarding nature of the discarded materials; 2) Lack of controls regarding the styles (many available); 3) Potential complaints regarding smells and/or varmints; 4) Potential objections by owners to appearance on units with no available wooded/growth areas; 5) The requirement for regular maintenance for proper operation; 6) Limited usefulness of composter output; and 7) Available exisiting altenatives for handling yard waste and expected future alternatives.
PORTABLE STORAGE BINS: Small portable storage bins, not exceeding 5' high, 4' deep, and 8' long, are considered acceptable without any requirement for ARC approval, provided they are located adjacent to(against) exterior walls of structural units, or in the case of Key Wesy style units, adjacent to(against) the side walls of the shower or utility enclosures/ Further the storage bins must be of a neutral (gray, green, or brown) color.
